The story so far

From handmade beginnings to a global creative playground

2010 · Portland, Maine

It started by the sea.

Bellymonk was born in Portland, Maine, back in 2010. Picture cobblestone streets, ocean breezes and a local scene that never stops making things. Not a bad place to catch the creative bug.

The early days

Handmade, from day one.

We started small: handcrafting and importing unique pieces from skilled artisans in India and Nepal, beginning with artisanal jewelry. Those partnerships were built on trust, shared values and a real love of quality craftsmanship.

The art got louder.

Over time our creative journey evolved. The jewelry grew into a bold streetwear and creative clothing line: tees, hoodies, prints and bags where graphic design meets street culture, and art meets everyday wear.

Today

Wearable art with roots and soul.

Our collections feature designs by talented graphic artists from around the globe, each bringing their own culture, vision and creative flair to the mix. Every design tells a story: sometimes loud and playful, sometimes minimal and bold, always unapologetically unique.

Eastern Hip Culture

Eastern roots. Western streets.

Many of our designs borrow symbols and stories from Nepal and India: Ganesh, Kaal Bhairab, the Endless Knot. Then they hit the street with a little attitude, right next to a monkey in headphones, a wicked yeti and a hippie bus telling you not to worry.

From Portland’s local vibes to influences from all over the world, it all ends up in the same place: on you.

Every Bellymonk design starts with an artist: someone with a pencil, a point of view and a story to tell. We celebrate the time, imagination and second drafts that go into their work, and the individuality of everyone who wears it.

Our philosophy

Growth is sweeter together.

We believe life’s too short to grow alone. For us it’s not just about getting, it’s about giving: opening doors for talented people who might not have the resources or the platform to share their craft with the world.

We’re working toward a place where everyone, from the seasoned artisan to the quiet dreamer, can show their art, connect with customers and be part of a community that cheers each other on. The more hands (and hearts) in it, the better.
